What Design Should Your Restaurant Tables Have?

December 28th, 2007 · No Comments

Choosing your restaurant furniture is one of the key elements to establishing both style and a sense of place. It’s also something that defines the function of your dining room: the right tables will determine how many people can be seated, the tables that you choose for your restaurant will help you to use the available space in the best way possible. This is a big part of the reason why the choice of restaurant tables for a cafe are different than the choices made for a bar or formal dining room: it’s important to use your space well and to cater to your customers.

So what should you be looking for in restaurant table design? The simplest answer is it depends on what you’re hoping to accomplish.

If round tables are going to be the best choice for your space, you may want to look at solid oak round tables, laminate table tops or even granite or marble tables depending on what will best suit the decor and serve a purpose (hint: if there are going to be a lot of kids in the room and you aren’t sure of the best base to use for your tables, you may want to think twice about using granite or marble).

If the tables are going to be used outdoors, you’ll be looking at tables with a different design and style than if they were going to be used indoors and with materials like melamine or resin rather than oak - you may even want to take a closer look at tables that have been designed with an umbrella hole to ensure the convenience if some of your diners will be looking for shade from the sun.

The best way of determining what design your restaurant tables have is simple: look at your plans, look at your floorplan and the vibe you want to create and then look at all of the options available to you.
