Laminates have been popular kitchen finishes for decades and in recent times have made their mark as finishes for restaurant furniture as well. The number one reason for using laminates as a finish is their wide range of colors and patterns.

Think of a color and there is a laminate to match. Think of a wood grain finish and there is a laminate to match. Think of a granite or stone finish and there is a laminate to match. I think you get the picture. Select your table, select your laminate and sit back and wait for the order to arrive.

A second reason for using laminates is their easy care. They wear reasonably well and can be easily cleaned. They will often withstand chemical cleaning agents without a problem as well. Laminates are also well suited to restaurants that cater for children. If you have children you will understand how much of a workout they can give a table top.

The third reason that laminates have proved to be popular is price. When you consider you can get an almost exact imitation of any stained wood at a fraction of the cost of the wood itself, you can understand why it has become popular.

If you put the three together you can have a less expensive replica stained wood finish that wears well. The original stained wood would not have worn as well and is often easier to damage.

Restaurant furniture that has a laminate finish is not for everyone - however, it does work well in middle tier restaurants, fast food restaurants and heavy traffic restaurants.
