Like humans, outdoor restaurant furniture settings need to have some form of UV protection. Otherwise, they will get sun burnt. Humans normally heal - your furniture will not. UV light can fade fabrics very quickly. Timber takes a little longer but it will soon start to show signs of UV damage. When buying furniture for the outdoor section of your restaurant, be sure to select from a range that has UV protection.

Water Resistant Restaurant Furniture

The sun can do damage and so can the other extreme - water. We are not just talking about rain when we say that water can damage your restaurant furniture. It can be a heavy dew, ice or snow or caused by hosing down the outdoor dining area. Outdoor furniture needs to be at least water resistant, preferably waterproof. Water resistant simply means that water, under normal circumstances, will not affect the furniture. However, if the furniture is soaked for any period of time, the resistance can break down and the water start to damage that furniture.

Modern plastics are waterproof and some are even UV protected. They can look cheap, however, and don’t bare weight very well. Laminates can be also be UV protected and are also water resistant.

Aluminum and cast iron are often good choices for outdoor furniture, particularly for bases of tables and chair legs. Before buying any restaurant furniture for outdoors, check on whether or not it is UV protected and water resistant.
