Restaurant Furniture - How Would You Define ‘The Best’?

August 13th, 2009 · No Comments

When looking to buy restaurant furniture, there is nearly always one tip that comes to the fore - ‘always buy the best your money can afford’. But then, how do you define ‘the best’? Is that the dearest, or the best quality, or the best quality for money? There are so many different ways to define it. Here is our take on the question.

There are three components to restaurant furniture that every owner should consider. These are:

Concept:

There are a couple of obvious areas to look at when it comes to concept. Your restaurant’s theme is the first consideration and with it the type of the furniture that will blend in or enhance that theme. This includes sizes, materials and finishes. For example, if your restaurant is a steak house, then rustic solid wooden furniture may be appropriate.

Durability:

Your second consideration should be durability - will the furniture withstand the type of workload expected of it? Sticking with the steak house as an example, using lightweight timbers, whilst easy to move and perhaps looking good, may not last long as customers get stuck into your steaks.

Practicality:

The final question then is how practical is the furniture. If your restaurant includes an external area, and again using the steak house example, then heavy timber furniture may not be practical. However, there are other options remaining which could include smaller solid tables, metal tables or perhaps glass topped tables.

With these two in mind, you will have found a range of furniture that fits in with your overall concept. You will have narrowed that down to furniture that is durable enough to last longer than a week or two. Finally, from the list that is left you can select the restaurant furniture that is most practical to your needs.

This then is the ‘best’ furniture for your restaurant. It’s not the money, it’s not the quality! When it comes to restaurant furniture, the best you can get is the furniture that meets all your needs whilst still coming in under your budget. Often, what you need more than anything else is a restaurant furniture expert to advise you on the range available.
