Does your restaurant cater to the take home crowd? Does your waiting area have the right restaurant furniture to cater for them? You know the people I am referring to. They prefer to order a meal and take it home with them. There are many restaurants now that cater for both dine in and take home patrons. Sometimes you wind up with too many customers waiting for their take home meals thus creating a bit of traffic snarl for those patrons wanting to dine in.
You have several different options. One is to have your take home areas set aside away from the general traffic flow. For some restaurants this isn’t an option. Let’s face it, space is a premium these days and every inch needs to be utilized to its best advantage. This is where some decent restaurant furniture would come in handy.
Bench seats are ideal for waiting areas. They don’t take up a lot of room yet they help to keep traffic flow areas clear of traffic. The bench seat in the picture is a good example. It is less than two feet deep (18.5″ to be exact) and can be obtained in sizes ranging from 30″ to 72″ - that is six feet long, surely long enough to handle several customers.
Waiting areas are often the last thought of when selecting restaurant furniture. It shouldn’t be. In the big picture, take home food can amount to a significant proportion of a restaurant’s income. In fact, when you take your waiting area’s measurements, it is often true to say that a waiting area can return a proportionally higher income per square foot than a dining table and chair setting.
If that is the case, it deserves equal consideration when it comes to costing furniture. Putting costs aside, you also have the issue of customer comfort. No one likes to be in the way. We would all prefer to be out of the way and not hindering people. You make your take home customers quite comfortable and out of the way simply by including that area in your restaurant furniture plans.
