Choosing Restaurant Furniture for an Authentic Look

April 18th, 2009 · No Comments

When some people start to think about choosing restaurant furniture, their goal is simply to make sure that people are going to have a place to sit down. Their focus, in other words, is less about making sure that their customers are comfortable and can get a sense - just by looking around - of what the restaurant is about.

However, there are a number of people who make a concerted effort to choose restaurant furniture that’s going to create an authentic experience for those who come through the door. Here’s an example of how far some people are going when they make restaurant furniture choices:

Outfitted in Spanish colonial style, the interior of Tres Agaves is much like walking in a Jaliscan plaza during a fiesta. Wood booths and tables line stone walls in the open, airy dining room. A private room near the back of the restaurant is separated from other diners by a large old-world wood door that furthers the feeling of being on location in a Mexican city.

“Most of our furniture actually came from Guadalajara in Mexico,” Rubin said. “We fell in love with the craftsmanship and it was all very unique that we wound up filling a whole truck.”

Now, if you’re planning an Asian restaurant, that’s not to say that you need to head to Thailand or Japan in order to buy your furniture; likewise, if your premise is Mexican, Italian or French, there’s no reason to travel to those areas to buy your furniture either. It’s definitely possible to choose restaurant furniture that has the right look and feel - and to find the ideal furniture for your restaurant without even leaving the comfort of your office space.
