When you are thinking about your restaurant furniture layout options, there may be times when you want to be sure that you play it safe; there may be times however that you want to think about taking a few risks in much the same way that one restaurant in Baltimore has:
(source)The Charm City Cafe had me the minute I spotted the easy chair. A big, yellow armchair and companion sofa resided in the back of this cozy new establishment. There were few conventional restaurant chairs and tables where diners could sit and eat, but many of the customers grab food and go.
As I waited for my order, I headed straight for the soft stuff. Since the cafe is in the Belair Beltway Plaza shopping center, one stoplight south of the Belair Road exit off Interstate 695, it offers harried Beltway drivers like me a relaxing place to sit, forget the traffic and smell the soup.
So, should you take risks with your restaurant furniture layout?
Obviously, you’re going to want to think about:
- The customer base that you have (or anticipate having) for your restaurant
- The space that you have to work with
- What your customers are going to expect when they come through the door
If you want to be sure that your customers are able to kick back and really escape from their days, you might want to look into a less typical restaurant furniture layout - one that includes lounge furniture as well as more traditional restaurant furniture in the layout.
