Designing an effective restaurant space is just as crucial as buying plates and forks and knives. It creates an overall feel which is transmitted onto the customer.
The restaurant’s layout is what makes service flow well, determines the amount of customers that can be served at any given time, and above all what makes the customer comfortable.
When designing your restaurant furniture layout, you must consider at least 5 areas. They are the customer service area, places like the hostess station and cash register, the kitchen area, taking care to make sure there is proper separation between the kitchen and the customer, the dining area, where it is important to give the customer proper spacing for their dining experience, whether it is a party of 5 or just a lone diner, space and comfort are key.
Another area to consider is the bar. At the bar, customers might just wait for their turn to be seated while enjoying a drink, or some may opt to eat their meal at the bar. Customers need to be comfortable here so as to not be fully aware they are waiting for their table. This is also another income producing space within the building. Treat the bar as seriously as the restaurant. Lastly and also as important are the customer restrooms. Ensure a smooth flow to the restrooms, minimizing the chance of a customer getting lost on their way back as well as making sure the restrooms are clean and comfortable. Many customers look at the restrooms as a major factor in a restaurant.
There are, of course, other spaces within the building like employee break area and maybe even an office. Giving attention to the five sections described above along with finding the right restaurant furniture is crucial to the smooth flow and success of the business.
