Choosing Restaurant Furniture Layout

January 15th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Ask anyone who has done it, and they are likely to tell you that determining the right restaurant furniture layout is far from a simple process but it’s also one of the most essential tasks that you’ll have when you’re getting ready to open.

So what all do you need to figure out when you’re choosing a restaurant furniture layout? Here are 10 questions that you’ll want to answer:

  1. The most effective use of your space. Whether you have 500 square feet or 5000 square feet to work with, you need to lay everything out so that you use the space as effectively as possible.
  2. Will all of your tables be square, all round or a combination?
  3. Will you choose booths or go for the greater flexibility of chairs or work out a mix of the two?
  4. Will you layout the furniture to create an illusion of multiple rooms?
  5. How much space will you leave between tables?
  6. What type of finish is right for the searing in your restaurant?
  7. Is determining the layout of your restaurant something that you want to do on your own or should you talk with an interior designer?
  8. Should you choose a design that’s flexible? In other words, will you choose restaurant furniture that’s easy to move around so that you can create a new look if necessary?
  9. What style of furniture is going to go best with the design of your restaurant dining room?
  10. Does your restaurant furniture supplier have what it takes to help you make the right decisions?

Choosing the right supplier is not always a top priority, but you’ll find that it can make all the difference in the world.
