Instead of opening a bar or restaurant like everyone else, you decided to open up a coffee shop. You’ve done a good thing here, capitalizing on the modern world’s addiction to caffeine and overpriced sandwiches.
With regards to the type of furniture you’ll put in your establishment, that is going to be slightly different than what you’d put in a bar or restaurant. There’s a simple reason for this: your furniture supplier, to make life easier for himself, has separate categories for coffee shop furniture and restaurant furniture.
That being said, the most common type of furniture you’re going to find in your coffee shop are going to be couches, stools and coffee tables. Granted, you’ll have your fair share of chairs and tables, maybe even a booth or two, but it’ll mostly be the other types.
The reason for this is that coffee shops are designed for people to come and drink coffee, maybe have something to eat, and pass the time. The furniture has to exude comfort and have staying power. When compared to restaurants, which are mostly for eating, coffee shops are more to kill an hour or two.
Naturally, coffee shops are also more social than restaurants. Unless we’re talking about a bar/restaurant combo here, chances are people aren’t going out to restaurants to socialize and meet new people.
