As the summer is coming to a close, I thought I would write a last post about outdoor seating. Honestly, this post is being fueled by my weekend dinner outdoors at a restaurant this past weekend.
Restaurant furniture layout and design should be a focus for outdoor space as much as it is indoor. Why do establishments insist on cramming an outdoor space with as much seating as possible? I know, the bottom line matters, but it you don’t consider the comfort of your patrons, they won’t keep coming back, and that affects your bottom line in the long run.
When designing your outdoor dining space, sit at the tables, push out the chairs, check out the elbow room. Is there enough room for diners to push out their chairs when they need to get up? Do they have enough room at their tables for their food? What is the overall comfort level for the person dining outdoors? All these things are quite important in the design of your outdoor eating space.
A happy customer is a repeat one.
