Chairs are not chairs anymore and when it comes to restaurant chair design, there is so much to consider. If you can think of a shape, design and material - I am sure I can find a chair to a fit. In fact, when considering what sort of chair to us in your restaurant, there are really three areas to consider.
The first area is the most obvious - the actual seat. There is still a lot to select from. The seat can be round, square, square with rounded corners, rectanglular … and that’s not all. Do you want timber, or padded? Vinyl covered or fabric? Should the seat be perfectly flat, or slightly bowl shaped? That’s the seat - now for the the chair back.
Just like the seat, the chair back can come in wide variety of shapes, sizes and finishes. You can select from high back or low back (or perhaps in between). Solid wood, strutted or solid with designs cut into it. You can have padded using vinyl or any one of thousands of different material. The back can be flat or curved - all of course matching the seat.
Finally, the legs. Here, the choice is much simpler. Chair legs are generally made in either timber or metal. The legs can be ornately carved (or molded) or smooth. You can also select from round legs or square legs with both having a tapered finish or an even finish.
Of course, it doesn’t just end there. You will also need to consider the overall color, even if you are only using timber. Light timber or dark timber; with or without wood-grain finish? When it comes to restaurant chairs design, there is a lot to think of.
Really, when you think about it, you are doing all this head scratching to get the right restaurant chairs just so your diner has somewhere comfortable to stick their backside on. Of course, if they are seated comfortably, they are going to be able to concentrate on the more important parts of dining out - like selecting a good meal.
