Your restaurant chairs design can change the mood of your restaurant, creating a fun and casual place to dine. Over the last decade, we have seen that the restaurant industry has become more and more competitive, with restaurants popping up all over the place. Unfortunately, as economic conditions change, many people will change their habits and prefer to stay at home to dine.
More restaurants with less customers does not bode well for the industry. To capture your share of the market requires some clever marketing and some clever initiatives that will attract diners. One smart move that has caught my eye with a large city restaurant is the complete overhaul they do each every day between midday and evening trade.
The midday trade is generally more relaxed and certainly more casual. A simple makeover involving colorful tablecloths and the use of fun and funky chairs has completely changed the look and feel of the restaurant - and it has proved to be popular.
Changing chairs has been the interesting feature. Gone are the formal stiff high-backed chairs. Instead, their restaurant chairs design incorporates a modern yet relaxed and comfortable look. The chairs almost resemble patio furniture, featuring aluminum and bamboo with comfortable arm rests. The look is completed by adding small cushions that match the tablecloths and the general decor. Customers love the relaxed nature of the restaurant and, as they relax and enjoy themselves, so does everyone else.
So what is so special about this restaurant? Once the midday trade has passed, the restaurant closes for a couple of hours. During that time, the tablecloths are removed, the funky chairs are removed and the more formal traditional restaurant seating takes its place. The restaurant changes its spots and instead of a fun and funky lunch time restaurant, becomes the formal evening meal restaurant.
I will be the first to admit that it’s not a cheap option. Buying and storing an extra 60 chairs has to be a strain on the budget. Swapping 60 restaurant chairs around twice a day has also got to be a pain. However, if you are capturing a good share of the market then it must be a consideration. The restaurant I mentioned that uses this tactic is almost always full at lunch time. It’s obvious the change in their restaurant chairs design has worked for them. Their night trade? I don’t know, you have to book a month in advance to get in - my month’s not up yet!

Yeh a great post. I always think the furniture in a restaurant, especially the chairs should be good quality and fit in with the feel/ design of the restaurant.
