They are not as common these days as they used to be but they still serve a purpose. I am talking about restaurant booths of course and they can be used to advantage. Before planning your restaurant booth layout you need to consider several factors.
The most important factor to consider is why you want to use booths. Are you looking to save space, create an atmosphere, or are you looking for that old fashioned feel to dining? It will also depend on what sort of restaurant you have. Let’s face it, unless elegant looking and very tastefully arranged, booths don’t suit fine dining.
Restaurant booths can be space savers, particularly if you have a long narrow space to use. One of the important advantages of booths, and a factor that needs to be considered when planning your restaurant booth layout, is the privacy they provide. People can dine and talk without too many eyes or ears intruding on the experience.
When it comes to atmosphere, booths can provide a real intimate experience, not so much for couples, but for small groups such as double dates. They provide both an intimate experience for each couple whilst still being part of the group.
What I do like about booths is the old fashioned feel that can add to a restaurant. Restaurants with upholstered booths, dim lighting and the smell of cooking drifting through can take people back many decades. Add some of the equipment and food from that period and you may find you have a restaurant that really buzzes and is constantly busy.
How you plan your restaurant booths layout goes a long way to creating each of those experiences. Have the booths to close can be a problem when it comes to access. Using them back-to-back has proved to be very popular over the years. Restaurant booths can be a useful choice in some restaurants, but only if you know why you are using them and if you restaurant booth layout suits your overall theme.
