Make The Best Use Of Corners In Your Restaurant Booths Layout

October 3rd, 2009 · No Comments

Your restaurant booths layout can be a tricky affair with precise measurements often required between booths. If you start by optimizing your corner booths you can then work your way out. Too many people try to plan their layout starting from the entrance to the dining area.

It actually makes more sense getting those corners right first. If you have a wall area where you intend to place booths, especially if it has two corners, place those corners first. Once the corners are in place, work alternately from each corner placing where required. What you are looking for is the meeting place in the center. Is it large enough to incorporate another booth?

If the answer is no, don’t try to crib on the space around that area to squeeze another booth in. Look for an alternate use for that space. Could it be used to house a cutlery station? Would it make an ideal space to store a child’s high chair? The key is to make the best use of the space without cramping your diners.

If you are planning a single wall with one corner, start with that corner. Place the booths along the wall using standard spacings. If you have space to spare, again, make better use of that space. The biggest mistake that most restaurateurs make is to try and cram too many seats into the space they have. Comfort is the name of the game in most restaurants. Treat your patrons like sardines and you will have an empty restaurant.

Your restaurant booths layout needs to make the best use of the space available. You do need to maximize the area for greatest return - we all understand that, just don’t make it at the expense of your clients.
