I think there would probably be a few people who would never include the word “elegance” and restaurant booths design in the same sentence. You can and should. Just because it’s a booth doesn’t mean it can’t be elegant and stylish.
Booths come in a lot of styles. There is the tufted booth as shown in this image. You can also have a quilted look, the classic channel finish or a straight fabric finish. The tufted and quilted finishes look particularly stylish and with a wide range of fabrics and colors available, there is always going to be a booth design to suit your restaurant.
In fact, booths have an interesting history. Way back in time, before the internet was born, booths were reserved for the gentry traveling the countryside. We mere mortals had to either eat at a trestle table or eat leaning up against a bar or windowsill. Booths were considered the private domain of the rich where they could eat in peace. Booths were not created for their privacy either, they were created to help the gentry eat in peace without ‘having to see others eat’ - a reference, no doubt, to the lack of table manners displayed by us mortals.
Booths have gone through many phases since those early horse drawn cart years. Booths were very popular in the 60’s in many ‘hamburger joints’ and they still make appearances in popular comedies on TV. In restaurants, a booth still has its place with many diners preferring the peace they offer. These days, however, it is for the right reasons - unlike the past. A restaurant booths design doesn’t have to look cheap and nasty. It can still have an elegant look that adds a touch of class to any restaurant.
