There are many different ways to attract attention in the restaurant trade and one of the best is to create a situation where patrons talk about you to their friends and colleagues. Obviously, you want the talk to be positive and the best place to start is with the food and the quality of service. Having said that, don’t forget the impact that furniture can have, particularly outdoor furniture where you can be a little more adventurous in the choice of colors and styles.
You don’t have to be way out or whacky in the style or choice of color, unless of course it suits your restaurant. Splashes of color, using modern materials like aluminum, stainless steel and plastics are popular choices. So too are some of the older materials such as bamboo, cane and wicker.
Color, style, function and comfort. The four cornerstones of all restaurant furniture still hold true. I have mentioned color in passing yet color will always draw the eye first. The bolder the color the more your outdoor furniture is likely to stand out. The more it stands out, the closer your patrons will look at it.
With this in mind, the areas of style and, more importantly, function and comfort will come under scrutiny - so make sure you get it right. If you don’t, your restaurant will be the talking point, just for all the wrong reasons.
Outdoor dining is always popular. Your outdoor furniture can be rather plain and virtually unnoticeable, or you can make a highlight of it and have people talking about it. Free publicity is almost always the best publicity especially when it comes to word of mouth advertising. Get it right and you will reap the rewards.
