New Trends In Restaurant Furniture - The Micro Event

November 1st, 2009 · No Comments

New trends in restaurant furniture can evolve around situations that are not related to the industry. I am not sure if it is the economy or just a social trend, but big events like engagements, weddings and baptisms seem to be shrinking in size. Rather than a hundred guests, functions to celebrate these occasions are numbering in their twenties or thirties.

Instead of hiring a hall or a large function center, people are calling on their local restaurants to cater for the occasion. Unfortunately, they are expecting to be able to dictate how the restaurant’s furniture should be laid out. They also want a say in the type of furniture, table cloths and related tableware that should be used.

Table cloths and tableware are not generally a problem. If you don’t have precisely what they want, it can be hired with the cost passed on to the event organizers. When it comes to furniture, you can either hire in a suitable set or stand your ground and insist on using what you have. Of course, you could be prepared by using restaurant furniture that has a multiple use.

New trends in restaurant furniture then are focusing on the types of furniture that have multiple uses. Tables that can be pushed together to form banquet tables. Chairs that are not too wide and without arm rests. Why no arm rests? Have you ever tried to get in and out of chair with arm rests when there are people around you? Not easy!

The new trend in special events is the micro event. Because of their size, they are able to save money by holding functions in places like restaurants. If your restaurant has the ability to cater for these functions then you could be looking at a good income producing possibility. Not all new trends in restaurant furniture come from within the industry - sometimes it is social needs that create the trends.
