Quite often you will find that new trends in restaurant furniture are not limited to the furniture alone. They can often be a combination that includes accessories such as table lamps or candle holders, restaurant tableclothes, or something as simple as the salt and pepper cellars.
Too often we look at the bigger picture without realizing it is these accessories that complete the look. This means you can buy the “new look” furniture but miss the finish the designer was looking for when putting together the collection.
In fact, your accessories could make the whole design look, at best, strange and, at worst, downright ugly. Accessories are always going to be that final touch to design, often used to highlight certain features.
A good example would be a table with a sunken condiments section that has been designed to take a specific salt and pepper cellar. You may find your old cellars either don’t fit the space provided, or simply look out of place - round pegs sitting in square holes - they fit but don’t look right.
Tableclothes are another example. Long tableclothes can take away from what are ornate table legs, designed to match the chairs in both design and form. Mind you, I have come across tables whose legs need hiding - often the tableclothes are not long enough.
The bottom line is fairly simple. When looking at new trends in restaurant furniture, take the whole look into account. The photo, or display, that includes accessories can change the whole look. If you’re able to, remove the accessories, then take a second look. Does it still look right for your restaurant? If not, your going to have to include the accessories in your budget.
