There is always a danger in following new trends in restaurant furniture. What is trendy today could be old hat tomorrow. If you dare to be different and set your own trend, the danger is that patrons won’t like it. It can be a fine balance.
Daring to be different has some big payoffs if you can pull it off successfully. By daring to be different with your restaurant furniture you are creating a talking point. Talking points are always good free advertising with some marketers believing that even negative talk is better than no talk at all. Add to that the curiosity factor and you can often find an increase in patronage as others come to see what the fuss is all about.
Following trends in restaurant furniture of course can be the safety route. If patrons like a particular seating arrangement or style of furniture, you can ensure their continued patronage by supplying it. Of course, you then run into difficulty down the track if trends change. Do you continue to follow the trends, or stick with what you have. Following trends, whilst perceived as safe, can be an expensive way to go.
Over time, patrons may also see your restaurant as being a trend follower and not a trend setter. By daring to be different and by being successful at it, you may actually be seen as a trend setter as other establishments follow your style. This increases the importance of your business in the eyes of patrons - they want to be seen dining in restaurants that set the trend.
If you look at many of the top restaurants around your area you can pick the trend setters. They may still follow some of the basic trends, for example, if the trend is for round restaurant tables rather than square, they will still find a way to add their own touch. Perhaps using different materials such as steel, or fine timbers, or using glass or ceramic tops. The end result is they are still daring to be different.
Do you follow the new trends in restaurant furniture or do you dare to be different by adding your own flair and your own style. Believe it or not, you can be trendy, yet different, without having to have special furniture designed for you. Just look around at the various restaurant furniture retailers - they often try to be different too.
